Porto Cristo

Set within the municipal district of Manacor, Porto Cristo is situated on the east coast of Mallorca, around 65km from Palma.

Translated as “The Port of Christ”, Porto Cristo has been settled since around 1260AD.  Although it does cater for tourism to a small extent, it remains very much a traditional Mallorcan fishing village.  Its natural harbour is one of the largest on the east coast, housing both fishing boats, yachts and sailing vessels.  It also has its own sandy beach, protected by a rock wall.

Although its close proximity to Cala Millor means that shops and entertainment are only a short drive away, Porto Cristo bathes in calm and solitude.  However, in the summer season, it is the main stop off point for those visiting the Caves of Drac and Caves of Hams, so can become relatively busy during this time.

There are a number of cafes, low-key bars and restaurants, as well as some small supermarkets catering for the bare essentials. However, entertainment in Porto Cristo itself is very limited, most families and mature couples simply enjoying its character and superb location.

Property for sale in Porto Cristo

Porto Cristo is considered to be a quite exclusive area for residential property.  Rich Mallorcans and foreigners alike have bought houses here and property prices are steep.  A three bedroom villa in Porto Cristo, overlooking the beach, is likely to cost somewhere in the region of €3.5m.
