Camp De Mar

Location

The resort of Camp de Mar, along with the towns of Andratx, Port d’Andratx, S’Arracó, and Sant Elm, make up the municipal district of Andratx, situated in south west Majorca. Due to its location and exclusive reputation (and for those lucky enough to afford to buy property for sale in Camp de Mar) property for sale does come at a premium.

Description

An upmarket tourist resort principally catering for the British and Germans, Camp de Mar has managed to avoid being overcommercialised to the point of tacky, retaining an image of exclusivity that many other resorts have failed to do.  It is a small, sheltered bay, protected on both sides by headlands. 

There are only a few amenities available at Camp De Mar, with the focus being very much on sun and relaxation.  As is common in resorts, most of the entertainment and leisure activities are channelled through the hotels which are dotted around the region.  For those looking for something a bit livelier, they would be advised to travel into Paguera, a short distance away, or thebusy resort of Santa Ponsa.  However, there are a small selection of decent bars and excellent restaurants serving both traditional Mallorcan and international cuisine.

Keen golfers flock to Camp de Mar, many choosing to stay and take up permanent residence here.  This is because this region of Mallorca in particular has no less than six championship standard golf courses.  The nearest is the celebrated Golf de Andratx, which opened in 2000.

A handful of shops are spread throughout the resort, although predictably, these tend to be more souvenir shops than glitzy fashion boutiques.

The area around Camp De Mar is renowned for being home to several of the world’s rich and famous, with large villas tucked away into hillsides.

Properties around Camp De Mar come in a variety of sizes and styles, from modest apartments to grand villas and mansion houses. If you are interested in buying a house in Camp De Mar, you should expect to pay somewhere in the region of €10m for a six bedroom house.  Obviously, the closer your new home is to one of the six golf courses in the region, the higher the price of the property.
